Is there such a thing as ';couples only'; restaurants in England?

I had a Black American buddy who went to England for a week. He told me that he went to a restaurant and was told that he could not be seated because it was a ';couples only'; restaurant. He thought that it was pretext for race discrimination. So, are there are ';couples only'; restaurants in England?Is there such a thing as ';couples only'; restaurants in England?
Well I have lived here for over 30 years and I have NEVER heard of such a thing.





Just did a quick google just incase but still nothing - only 'couple only' holiday resorts abroad.





I 'could' be wrong I s'pose. But what a cheek of the restaurant to do that to your friend.
